Review: Hold Me Tight

Author: Lorie Ann Grover
Title: Hold Me Tight
Other Titles: Loose Threads, One Pointe
GoodReads.com Review: Dad's words come as a complete shock to Essie. How can he just walk out on her and the family, especially when Mom is pregnant?
Essie keeps her dad's leaving a secret. Then Essie's classmate, Chris Crow, disappears, and everyone finds out he's been kidnapped. Is Chris okay? Is Dad ever coming back? Essie is left to wonder if people really have any control over what happens in their lives.
Finally, after a startling incident with a family friend, Essie finds the strength to hold on tight to all that she has left -- and in the process realizes that the bonds of love and family do hold a person together.
Inspired by true events, Hold Me Tight is a moving and powerful novel. An author's note provides further information about kidnapping and the Amber Plan programs that are in use today to help communities find abducted children.
My Review: Although I'm not considered really old.. or old at all since I will only be twenty in August.. But I do remember when divorce wasn't common and in my somewhat small town. There was only a handful of kids that had divorced parents and now there are more children with divorced parents than there are that don't. This book shows what goes through a childs head when dealing with things such as divorce. Grover does such an amazing job on explaining how children have such mixed emotions about such situations when they try to understand the whole reasoning behind divorce.
Being one of those children who was lost in those emotions at seven years old and dealing with a single parent and seeing the difficulties trying to survive and yet being smart enough to question how god works in these situations. But not only does it focus on divorce but also kidnapping and the start of the AMBER alert system.
**If you do have divorced or seperated parents this is the book for you!! If I had to write a book about how my parents divorce effected me it would be very similiar to this**
